Golden Globes 2015 – The Frockumentary

So serious hits and misses at the Golden Globes this year and also many similar dresses. This is when stylists are a bad idea. Too much on trend and not enough individual style.

This colour match from Naomi Watts and Leslie Mann is a case in point.

My Best Dressed is in the following order:

#1 Lupita Nyong’o in Giambattista Valli. Wisteria loveliness and perfectly toned arms.

#2 Emma Stone in a Lanvin pant suit that reminded me of the edgier Emma Watson Dior version.

#3 Jenna Dewan Tatum in buttery Carolina Herrera. I never cared about her till this dress. So much class in this choice. Well done.

Best Dresses as opposed to Best Dressed in the following order:

#1 – Claire Danes in Valentino

#2 Sienna Miller in Miu Miu. Look at the work in this frock!

#3 Emily Blunt in Michael Kors. This is what Vera Wang tried to do with Rosamund Pike. Both women have recently had babies. Only one of them worked it well.

Worst Dressed (according to me).

#1 Rosamund Pike in everything terrible. What is this?

#2 Kristin Wiig in a sack

#3 Lana Del Rey in an ill-fitting castoff from Krystal Carrington.10306545_740460276044843_4858603422904491787_n

#4 Amanda Peet in a sack.

Honourable mentions for What Were They Thinking –

#1 Melissa McCarthy. I don’t know what this reminds me of but I don’t think it’s good. Too much, too much!

And this from Keira – Who I had such high hopes for.

  1. Thanks for the laugh “Lana Del Rey in an ill-fitting castoff from Krystal Carrington” – it’s just a shame that I am at work now everyone knows I am not actually working by the muffled laughs coming from my desk…..
Lupita in her wisteria dress looks fantastic. As for Melissa McCarthy – what was she thinking? She looks like a school teacher from Little House on the Prairie or something. I know that Keira is pregnant but whoever chose that dress for her should lose their job. The neckline of that dress brings back memories of those awful outfits that the women in the Darrell Lea shops used to wear 25 years ago – I’m showing my age now : (
I’ll miss Joan RIvers commentary, the award season won’t be the same without her although I have to admit she was a bit too nasty sometimes.
